HOW TO PREPARE FOR YOUR TAN:
Plan to shower, exfoliate & shave *between 4-24 hours* prior to your appointment. DO NOT EXFOLIATE or SHAVE RIGHT BEFORE APPOINTMENT (4-24hrs please). Applying a light lotion IS recommended as you will not want any dry skin. But AVOID heavy creams & oils. Use light gel based soap and avoid Dove products which may create a barrier on the skin.
Plan to remove deodorant & makeup for best results (use a wet wipe to remove if you applied after prep shower).
Mani/pedi, waxing & all other beauty services must be done PRIOR to your tan appointment. ‘Polish change’ is ok after but NO soaking or scrubbing.
During your session, you may wear whatever you feel comfortable in. Topless or nude. Dark colored, strapless undergarments are recommended if you choose. Nothing lacy or mesh. Men must wear bottoms. We do have complementary disposable items if needed.
Anywhere you have clothing will leave a healthy tan line.
Plan to wear or bring dark-colored, very loose, long clothing & flip-flops/slippers to wear after application. No sports/bra, no jeans or yoga pants, no socks, no strappy shoes. NOTHING TIGHT UNTIL YOUR 1ST SHOWER. Plan to chill after application as rubbing, moisture and tight clothing will cause flaws in your tan. TIP: When in doubt, blend it out.
PLAN ACCORDINGLY IF IT'S RAINING! Wear clothes that cover your entire body and have an umbrella!
WHAT TO EXPECT AT YOUR APPOINTMENT:
Our professional certified airbrush artists will look at your skin tone and ask how your skin normally tans in the sun. She will ask about what type of tan you are looking for, think subtle glow, bold or anything in between. After that she will determine the right formula and set time for your goals.
Next we will get you comfortable in our space. Undress to your comfort level once you are in privacy behind closed doors. Our technician will knock before entering the room and ask if you are ready. Men must wear bottoms.
Allow approximately 10-15 minutes to be airbrushed and dried. Our formula dries in approximately 20 seconds.
Immediately after your airbrushing you will have a tan glow from the bronzer. This is temporary and will come off during your rinse off. Do not worry! You are not washing off your tan down the drain. Your actual tan will develop over the first 24 hours.
You will be asked to set your alarm on your phone for your appropriate rinse off time. This will be 1 to 4 hours from when you were airbrushed. Our technician will tell you the correct timing based upon your skin tone and goals. Just rinse off in the shower with water only. Do not use any soaps or shampoos. Avoid any rubbing, use of wash cloths, etc. that will strip your tan.
Be HAPPY 😇, no tears please, it will streak your tan.
HERE ARE THE BEST PRACTICES TO MAINTAIN YOUR SPRAY TAN:
Keeping your skin hydrated is so key to having the freshest, longest lasting spray tan. MOISTURIZE! Using products that don't strip the tan is important. Not only for your results but for curing the root cause to dry skin.
Look for the cleanest, natural, organic products. Paraben free, sulfate free, no mineral oil, no petroleum, no alcohol, less or no synthetic fragrance. NO DOVE SOAP! Shop our boutique for some wonderful options.
Sweating while wearing tight clothing will have more wear on your spray tan. It's better to wear looser sports clothes and rinse off sweat in the shower after a workout. Blending any uneven/sweat areas in your shower definitely can save your tan!
Soaking in high chemical pools or hot tubs can cause faster fading. Of course vacation is the main reason to get your glow on so try to dip more than soak. We have tan extending lotions sold in our boutique. This is a sure way to keep that tan going strong!
Your spray tan should last 7-10 days with proper care. The face fades faster due to washing with stronger products.
Use a fresh razor when shaving.
Whenever you see a flaw in your tan, BLEND IT OUT! In your shower during your tan life OR with a dry towel if you get wet during your developing process.
